A Chance Meeting

So today I was sitting at the chow hall alone when some army docs came up and asked if they could share my table. Of course I said yes. When the captain that was with them sat down I noticed that he was wearing a camouflage yamaka. At first I figured him for a Jewish chaplain, but then I noticed that he too had a medical patch on his sleeve. To make a long story short, he's a optometrist from Squirrel Hill. We sat there for a good hour and swapped stories about various things. Very nice guy. He was quite interested to hear if there was any news from Pittsburgh, most importantly he wanted to know if there were any new developments with the Ward incident. He was also a bit surprised that I knew to say 'observant' instead of 'religious' when we were talking about some of the synagogues in Squirrel Hill. I liked what he said at the end most though when he said "I've never met a person from Pittsburgh who didn't love it. Some people have to move away, but Pittsburgh is really well loved."
