IDF
So, I've had an extremely boring few weeks. There really is nothing to do out here. We did have an Indirect Fire (IDF) strike recently, but that was nothing to be concerned about. IDF is contact from any weapon that fires in an arc and then impacts. This would mainly include mortars, but also rockets. Fortunately, in this area of operation the insurgents are pretty bad at aiming the things, which is fairly complicated and requires a good understanding of geometry. Around here the locals struggle to understand things like telling time, so predicting an impact area based on an arcing trajectory and then factoring in weather and the very real possibility that the target is not visible to the mortar-man makes this near impossible. It doesn't stop them from trying though.
