The People I Meet

It's really cool how many interesting people I have been meeting out here. A few weeks ago I had lunch with my CO and his brother who happens to be a Navy SEAL stationed out here in Helmand. I've always gotten along well with the CO, but meeting his brother so shortly after the Bin Ladin Raid was a real treat. A few days later I found myself randomly at a lunch table with a group of NCIS agents, who were also quite interesting. Most recently I was at work when two middle aged men with British accents in civilian attire came up to my office looking for the General. It turns out the less heavily armed of the two is some higher up (and I mean really up there) in the British High Commission. The other gentleman was his bodyguard who, since he was not needed inside the meeting with the General stayed in my office for a chat. It was a nice time, but I wouldn't want his job: he has spent the last 8 years in Iraq and Afghanistan, with only 3 months off per year.

P.S. I have received a question as to weather the cigarettes in the picture for my Spring posting. The answer is definitely no. I very rarely ever feel compelled to smoke a cigarette, and that is only when I'm drinking. Also, if I ever was compelled to start smoking they would not be menthol. I will say that I am still a confirmed cigar smoker though.
