A Pax Britainia

Yesterday was sort of a sleepy day for a lot of us here at camp. No new missions went out, and none of the guys already on missions were scheduled to return. It was also quite a hazy day, making the entire world look a quite gray. We kept occupied improving our HQ, but really it was a pretty quiet day. In a way it was nice, but it was a little boring. At least it was boring until five of the lads from Her Majesty’s Royal Marines decided to stop in for a little visit. Initially they had just stopped in to trade some gear and exchange some news, but it wasn’t long before the camp took on a party atmosphere. They stayed well into the night. At one point Cpl Ramos asked one about their insignia (the last picture below) and the Marine answered that the crown was because they symbolically fall directly under the queen , and the globe represents the 200+ wars they have fought in all over the world (yes, I do mean wars, not battles). After that explanation the Bostonian, Ramos asked what the laurel wreath represented. The Englishman responded quite bluntly “Bunker Hill.” I'm not sure if he actually meant that as a joke or to be serious, but I thought it was older, but needless to say we all had a good laugh about this and continued on talking about current events and comparing slang between the two services. It was also Indian night at the chow hall, so all we would have needed was a keg of Newcastle Brown Ale and things would have been perfect, but no such luck. So, with no further ado, here are some pictures. I can be seen in the top two.
